Maranatha Christian Academy and Safe Families Windsor Essex are WEthrift's founding charity partners. The store was created specifically to generate long-term financial support for these organizations and their work in Windsor-Essex.

The journey from idea to opening day involved approximately eighteen months of planning, substantial start-up investments, and countless volunteer hours. These resources were provided largely by friends and supporters of MCA and Safe Families who shared the vision of creating a thrift store that would benefit the community for years to come.

Because the initiative and risk to launch WEthrift came from friends of these two organizations they remain the primary recipients of the store's charitable giving. At the same time, WEthrift also supports additional local charities through its monthly Featured Charity program, allowing customers and donors to help a wide range of community causes.

WEthrift-was created as a faith-based organization but is excited to support a wide variety of charities (faith-based and otherwise) that are providing meaningful and good services that make the Windsor-Essex region a great place to be part of!

Rather than committing to a fixed percentage, we've chosen to focus on making meaningful, sustainable donations. As a new organization, we're committed to paying off our significant startup costs and debt before we can fully invest in our primary partner charities. While those obligations are being met, our monthly Featured Charity program will continue to receive financial support. Our goal is to donate $30,000 to Featured Charities during our first year. Once our startup debt has been repaid, our primary charitable partners—Maranatha Christian Academy and Safe Families Windsor-Essex—will also begin receiving ongoing support.
